Darken. gray is just a pala®, annoying the version of black one. although there isn't too much a difference. ..=P

For me that depends really of the tone of skin. On a girl that has a tone of darker skin I would must say than gray is a lot more appealing one. A pale complexion looks at better with a HARSHER constraste as the black one.
